The next body system that we will be covering is the Digestive System.
What is it ❓👉 Your stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, esophagus, and salivary glands all play a role in food going in, and coming out 😳 I know that (poop emoji) isn’t glamourous to talk about, but it is vital that we understand how it works to keep us in optimal health.
🚨Fun fact #1: the digestive system works along with the immune system to protect the body from foreign invaders. The digestive system breaks down bacteria and pathogens at various stages keeping the body healthy.
🚨 Fun fact #2: There are over 100 million neurons embedded in the gut (AKA the enteric nervous system). This is sometimes called the “second brain” and can be responsible for those “gut feelings.” Brain-gut interactions are highly connected to emotional health. There is a proven correlation between stress and anxious feelings and gut disorders.
